UFCW 1546 Endorses Susana Mendoza for Mayor
CHICAGO, IL – Today, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1546 endorsed Susana Mendoza for mayor. UFCW 1546 represents over 25,000 workers throughout Illinois, Indiana, and other states in industries as varied as retail grocery and drug stores, meatpacking and processing plants, nursing homes, and leather processing plants.
“I’m so thrilled to receive this endorsement from the working men and women of UFCW 1546,” Susana Mendoza said. “Throughout my career, I’ve stood up for workers’ rights to collectively bargain, organize, and earn a fair wage. I’ll continue to fight for those rights as mayor. With the help of UFCW 1546 and working families in communities throughout Chicago, I’m confident we can lift up every neighborhood in our city by investing in public education, addressing the root causes of violence, and solving our fiscal challenges without burdening working families.”
“With the future of our city at stake, we’re so proud to be endorsing Susana Mendoza for mayor,” UFCW Local 1546 President Bob O’Toole said. “Susana has been a steadfast advocate for workers, fighting against Bruce Rauner’s assaults on our working families and standing up for our rights. I know as mayor, she’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with the working men and women of UFCW 1546 to move Chicago forward, guarantee every worker earns a living wage, and protect our ability to organize and collectively bargain.”
