10 Questions Left Unanswered by Toni Preckwinkle
CHICAGO, IL — After a tumultuous week filled with contradictions, evasions, and an ever-changing story around the illegal campaign contribution she received from Ed Burke’s alleged extortion scheme, Toni Preckwinkle still needs to come clean to voters. With rumors swirling around the FBI investigation she’s implicated in, here are 10 questions party boss Toni Preckwinkle has left unanswered about her latest ethics scandal:
- Did she or did she not accept the $10,000 contribution from Ed Burke’s extortion scheme? (1)
- If not, why did she file an amended A-1 to report the contribution?
- If she did, will Preckwinkle hold anyone accountable for failing to report the contribution in violation of campaign finance laws?
- Why does Preckwinkle’s account of returning the full $10,000 contradict the FBI’s criminal complaint stating she kept $5,600? (2)
- What other contributions is Preckwinkle hiding from voters?
- Why won’t Preckwinkle release the full email correspondence with Mr. Dhanani? (3)
- Will Preckwinkle take action to ban outside employment for county board members?
- Will Preckwinkle and her team release all emails, texts, and other communications they had with Ed Burke and his staff in relation to the fundraiser?
- If Toni Preckwinkle did nothing wrong, why did she tell four whoppers in one day?
- Time and again, Preckwinkle has been busted lying to the public about her multiple ethics scandals. Why should voters believe her and not the FBI? (4)
